Medical

The United States has the most advanced medical delivery system in the world. We have more doctors of every specialty, more hospitals and health care facilities, more medical  research facilities, more high tech surgical procedures, and more pharmaceutical treatments for virtually every physical and mental condition. Yet, according to the WHO (World Health Organization) as a nation we rank dismally low in overall health when compared to all other industrialized countries. We lead the world in all degenerative conditions including heart disease, cancer, arthritis,  diabetes, kidney disorders and numerous others. We have more mental disease in every category including depressive, anxiety and attention deficit disorders. Additionally, we suffer some of the highest rates worldwide of iatrogenic (caused by physician) disorders and deaths:

      • 2.2 million people per year have in hospital adverse reactions to prescribed drugs.
      • 20 million unnecessary antibiotics are prescribed for viral infections per year
      • 7.5 million unnecessary surgical procedures are performed annually

According to prestigious medical journals such as Pediatrics, Lancet, Annual Review of Public Health and The Journal of the American Medical Association annual estimates on hospital caused deaths are:

      • 100,000  from properly prescribed drugs
      • 80,000 from hospital caused infections
      • 12,000 from unnecessary surgery
      • 7,000 from medication errors
      • 20,000 from other errors

According to Gary Null, Ph.D in his book Death by Medicine, the total number of deaths caused by conventional medicine is an astounding 783,936 per year which makes it evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury far exceeding heart disease and cancer.

With all that being said, modern medicine can be a great last resort to restore normal physiological and psychological functioning. Our excellent emergency medical procedures no doubt save thousands of lives per year and medical diagnostic testing is superb and can give us true guideposts to lifestyle enhancement and optimal health strategies.

An example of highly recommended tests include include blood and saliva.

Get Blood and Saliva Tests

Everyone embarking on a optimal health program should get the following blood and saliva hormone tests (salivary testing is especially recommended for menopause and andropause symptoms):
Cardiovascular profile (Blood Test)

 Healthy Reference Range:

Fibrinogen

Saliva Test

According to ZRT Laboratory www.salivatest.com Saliva testing is a convenient, inexpensive, and above all, accurate means of testing steroid hormones. Scientific studies have shown a strong correlation between steroid hormone levels in saliva and the amount of hormone in the blood that is active or “bioavailable.” It is this fraction of total hormone that is free to enter the target tissues in the brain, uterus, skin, and breasts.

The hormones most extensively studied in saliva are: Estrogens (Estradiol, Estrone, and Estriol), Progesterone, Androgens (DHEAS, Testosterone) and cortisol for assessment of adrenal function.

Candidates for Adrenal Function Salivary Hormonal Testing would include those experiencing symptoms of morning and/or evening fatigue, increased susceptibility to infection, poor recovery from exercise, allergies and chemical sensitivity, unstable blood sugar, “burned out” feeling, insomnia, apathy, depressed mood and low sex drive.

Female Hormonal Imbalance: Women of all ages benefit from balanced hormones. Women with symptoms such as menstrual irregularities, PMS, endometriosis and infertility find salivary hormonal testing helpful in understanding their underlying condition. Healthcare providers working with perimenopausal and menopausal women find testing a key step in developing a treatment program. Providers also find saliva testing invaluable for monitoring women using hormone replacement therapy.

Male Hormonal Imbalance (Andropause) can be experienced by men in mid-life and older. Feelings of irritability and constant fatigue, lacking enthusiasm for life, decreased sex drive, low energy, erectile dysfunction, drop in strength or endurance, feeling sad and/or grumpier than usual, decreased muscle mass, increased upper and central body fat, and increased risk of cardiovascular disease can all be signs that hormones are out of balance and this can be detected through saliva testing.
